Set back doesn’t mean failure

Pursuing a career in basketball was a life long dream of mine when I was younger. Starting out at the age of fourteen in seventh grade I guess you could say I had a late start. Once I tasted the sweet flavor of basketball I never turned back. Working day after day on the game was my life. Effort to become a better player is what I gave but my game didn’t develop fully until I experienced some set backs. From the B team in middle school to getting cut by my high school coach sophomore year, it was discouraging. My love for the game never faded. I found an outlet in AAU basketball with the Edmond Suns. My teammates and coach were encouraging and helped develop my skills. When I got to the point where I had others telling me go play college ball or try over seas I had a spiritual shift. God spoke into my life and wanted to use my life to develop others through His word and the game of basketball. Set backs come and go in life like getting cut from a team, being told your not good enough, or maybe a serious injury that discourages you from gettin back up again. Whatever the case may be seek God and His will. Remember that your flesh will fight against your spirit. Its a battle each and every day, that’s why scriptures say to die to our flesh daily. Follow your spirit and stick it out because set backs only become failures when you allow them to. Me and my close friends used to remind each other that we are stronger then we realize. Remember that next time you feel like giving in to your own personal set backs.

Flight Ministries prayers go out to Boston Celtics guard Gordon Hayward and the terrible injury he suffered tonight. This set back will not define his career. I believe he will rehab and return stronger then ever

1 Peter 4:1-2 Since Jesus went through everything your going through and more, learn to think like Him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from the old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. Then you’ll be able to live out your days free to pursue what God wants instead of being tyrannized by what you want.

  1. When life knocks you down, and it will knock you down, try to land on your back. If you can look up you can get up. Land on your back!!

Keep the mindset at all times that “Its not over until I win”!
